When you select a cloud-based email provider, you have the option to bolt on email archiving. You can either select the solution offered by the hosted email provider (if available) or select a third-party solution. For many organizations that already have an archiving solution, the decision to move your business email presents challenges. Most on-premise archiving solutions were designed to work with on-premise email platforms (like Microsoft Exchange or Lotus Notes) and consequently, do not work with any cloud-based email provider. Some providers tout themselves as cloud-based, but they rely on on-premise appliances (largely to sync Active Directory), but as a result cannot work with cloud-based email providers. Many of these providers are working on developing solutions to fill this gap, but in the meantime, you have a limited set of options. NOTE: In full disclosure, this site was created by the folks at LiveOffice, a cloud-based archiving solution. We have tried to keep it educational, non-salesy and accurate, but perhaps some of our own bias may have crept in. So, we encourage you (and our competitors) to help us correct any of the information on this site if it is factually inaccurate. Just drop us a line at info@cloudemail101.org.
